Far Off Friends Help a Newtown Family
I woke this morning with tears in my eyes. I simply cannot process the horror. With each story I hear of the events of Friday, I struggle to comprehend. I wonder how the survivors will ever heal. I put myself in the shoes of the mothers. I think of Ben’s mother and I am distraught.
I don’t know how they will go on. I don’t know how healing will ever come to the hearts of the parents who have lost everything. And they have lost everything, because when it comes down to it, our children are everything.
I can only pray the God will give them peace at this moment, to move through this moment.
Yesterday, a friend said that she had the awareness that Friday will represent a split in our lives. We will remember things from here on as life before the Newtown shooting and life after. Much like 9 11.
And we are all affected, regardless of how close you live to this tragedy.
Through my tears this morning, I am thankful for the efforts of a group of people that have sent their love and prayers and support to the family of Benjamin Wheeler.
Led by author and blogger Julie DeNeen, they have raised close to $2,000 (at this writing) to give to the family to help with funeral expenses. They are buying a star in memory Ben. They have shared their hearts in their posts. I am so grateful for each word they have written and would like to share them with you now. These are the members of an incredible blogging group that I am honored to be a part of. They are from all over the US and all over the world.
Please read what they have written and take a moment to thank them with me for their efforts, love and compassion.
