I Promise

Will you join me?

sandy-hook-promise

I know you may want to forget. I know you may want to move on from this tragedy and go back to your life.

I cannot. We cannot.

There is work to be done.

I’m not pushing any political agenda here.  I have simply made the promise to keep talking about this, keep talking about the causes and what can be done to keep it from happening again.

I made that promise and I’m asking you to make it too.

This is a Promise*

To truly honor the lives lost by turning our tragedy into a moment of transformation.

Make the promise for the future of our country and the safety of our own children. Do it for the parents who grieve on for their precious lost children. Do it for  David and Francine Wheeler, because that is what they need from us now.   Make the promise for Veronique Pozner, who has been brave enough to describe the condition of her son’s body after the shooting with the hope that people with feel compelled to take action.

Now is not the time to walk away and let someone else figure it out. It’s not the time to throw our arms up in despair and declare the situation hopeless. It’s time to do something. It’s time to support common sense solutions.

This is a Promise*

To have the conversations on ALL the issues
Conversations where listening is as important as speaking.

Don’t let this fade from your memory. Don’t let time lesson our resolve to change. Not again.

Visit Sandy Hook Promise and make a commitment.

Even though I’m in Canada I took the pledge. I don’t want Canada to begin emulating the US

Amy, thank you so very much for posting this and your friends are truly amazing people after what they only went through a month ago. I watched the whole video and was simply amazed at their strength and resilience as parents. I also signed the promise and can’t say enough that I will never forget all these children, especially Ben.

I signed the promise, but even without it, these families would always be in my thoughts

I think what you’re doing for this school is selfless and incredible. I still think of this school often, though I’m thousands of miles away. In fact, I’m seriously considering home schooling when the time comes as well because of it, and other reasons. Keep doing what you’re doing, this is something that needs to be brought up and often. Too bad if other people can’t deal with it or want it to go away. This is reality, and I’m behind you with this cause.
