Choosing to use eco-friendly products is not only important to the environment, it’s essential to the long term health of your family. The majority of shampoos and conditioners in the U.S. marketplace would not pass the established safety standards in Europe. These products contain chemicals that are suspected carcinogens, like formaldehyde.
Limited exposure to these chemicals may not pose a significant health risk, but daily use by young children year after year? The effects are unknown. It’s not worth the risk.
I know from experience that not all eco-friendly, all natural products are created equal. I’ve tried at least a dozen brands of children’s shampoos and soaps over the years.
Recently, I was given a chance to try out the new Eco Princess line of shampoo and conditioner. They also make a fun line of organic bath time and play makeup products designed just for girls.
All of their products are made with 100% natural ingredients and do not contain any toxic chemicals that can be harmful to a child’s skin . The collection includes shampoo, a detangling conditioner, three different bubble bath scents. The “play” make up collection consists of eye shadow, blush, pink shimmer lip balm and 9 water based nail polish colors.
Here’s what you can count on when you buy these products:
- Sulfate-free
- Paraben-free
- Gluten-free
- Vegan and Cruelty Free
These products were created by a concerned mom who has succeeded in making a safe and healthy alternative.
The Eco Princess products can be purchased from Organic Beauty Now and the retail prices range from $8.99 – $24.99.
Our results using the shampoo and detangling conditioner:
I have three girls, with three very different types of hair. Typically, the one problem we have with eco-friendly shampoo and conditioner doesn’t “condition” deeply enough and my girl’s hair will be dry and tangled. The shampoo smells beautiful and we loved this conditioner! My girl’s hair was silky and soft, not at all dry looking and easy to comb through.
And what does my daughter have to say about it? One, simple (made-up) word: Awesometastic!
