“Mom, do you know you have a big butt?”
This is how my week started. The Princess made this observation with such sweet innocence. We all know that 6 year-old girls rarely lie. I was thrilled, as I’m sure you can imagine.
“Do I? I didn’t know that. Thanks for letting me know.”
I was telling the truth too. I typically gain weight around the middle. If she had said I have big gut, I would have agreed without thinking much. But this… it required me to examine the situation carefully. It required the use of a variety of mirrors all over the house. Lights on, lights off. Contact lenses on and then off.
I would like to walk around in denial all the time without lenses, in very gentle light. That way, I look younger and thinner. I may walk into walls, but hell, I look awesome, to me.
The bottom line…my jeans still fit. No need to get worked up.
The week went on with less-than-usual drama. I had a sick teenager on my couch for the majority of the week. We watched documentaries and 13 episodes of Once Upon a Time. We talked a lot. We didn’t leave the house for three days because my poor girl could barely walk.
And that is how you get quality time with a busy teen.
Meanwhile, the Butterfly was busy. She started painting early one morning before her sisters were even out of bed.
Two hours later, her painting was complete.
Then we noticed our bird feeder was missing. A screen climbing, wall scaling squirrel is our prime suspect. We made pine-cone feeders so the birds would have something to eat during the snow storm. We love our birds.
Friday, we were in Newtown for music and acting classes, which I wrote about here.
Looking back, there wasn’t nearly enough chaos this week. Don’t worry. The girls are all healthy now and I’m certain they’ll step it up a bit for next week.
In case you missed it, I got myself into a little bit o’ trouble with a few mom bloggers over this post .
And in case you didn’t enter, today is the last day to win a $25 gift card and movie pack.
I’m still not begging for votes in the Circle of Moms Top 25 Funny Blogs contest, which has resulted in me dropping behind at a rapid pace. If you would like to vote for me (you can vote everyday) CLICK HERE.
And my final piece of randomness for the day:
The kitten has made friends with the bunny. This makes the cranky bunny less mean. When I open the cage to feed him, he no longer tries to make me bleed.
Clearly, no rabbit is an island, meant to nibble his way through life alone.
