The Butterfly (now 12) has two passions at the moment: baking and learning to code. She’s learning to code so she can create her own epic Minecraft mod. And the baking? Well, she’s been inspired by You-Tube celebrity Rosanna Pancino. She begged me to get her best-selling book The Nerdy Nummies Cookbook: Sweet Treats for the Geek in All of Us, so she could try out the recipes.
Her first project? Code cookies. She made them last week, in a mere 4 hours, and brought them to her computer science class to share with her cookie and code loving friends.

Code Cookies
In case you’re not familiar with binary code, the numbers on the cookies mean the color of the icing. Cool, right?
Next we’re going to attempt my favorite recipe in the book. Books!
I don’t have words to explain how much I love this idea.
Pancino’s book is packed with great ideas and clear instructions. I do recommend gathering your patience along with the ingredients, because the recipes are not as quick and easy as they look. Still, they are worth the effort.
