Goat Island Lighthouse, RI
My girls and I took a desperately needed break from our daily life this week and spent a few days in Newport, Rhode Island. We managed to catch two sunsets over Newport Harbor. The photo above is a tiny lighthouse on Goat Island, a small island in the harbor, and home to the Hyatt Regency Hotel, a conference center and several docks, but (as far as we could tell) no goats of any kind. The island can be accessed by car from downtown Newport, and if you drive over the short bridge early in the evening, you’ll need to drive slowly and be mindful of the many people hanging around, fishing and watching the sunset.
We caught this sunset as well, one day earlier:

My kids aren’t typically interested in finding the best spots to watch the sunset, but this time, in this place, even they were impressed.
