Our December routine has been the same for the past four years, and I love it. It also makes me a little crazy, because it’s non-stop activity until I drop, sometime around mid-month. When I recover (around the 15th) I rush to get all of the Christmas planning, shopping and decorating completed. I promised myself I would do things differently this year, but um, that’s not going to happen.
And I’m not going to worry about it at all.
I took this shot today as I was walking out of rehearsal ( yes, a coffee run). I love that the staff at Town Hall have their act together early, even if I don’t. The girls are rehearsing The 12 Dancing Princesses (not the Barbie version!) and will have three performances next week. It’s an all-homeschool cast with around 35 actors ages 5-18.
We still have a couple of weeks of other activities before our winter break, but the play is all consuming for the next week, and that’s the way we like it. My girls are always sad when a show is over. They will wander around the house aimlessly for a couple of days, adjusting to ordinary life.
For now, holiday prep will have to wait. They’ve got a show to do.
I’m linking up this week with Homeschool Highlights, hosted by Kym at Homeschool Coffee Break. Click the image to read more…
