It’s been ages since I first wrote about the educational possibilities using Minecraft. Since then, a wealth of resources have been created to help kids learn everything from coding to history using Minecraft as inspiration.
I recently received a comment on my Reading and Writing with Minecraft post and I wanted to share. It’s from author Mark Cheverton:
I’ve created some writing tutorials for teachers/parents to use with students, to help them write, using Minecraft as the bait to get kids engaged. These tutorials are based on what I’ve learned after writing 18 Minecraft novels for middle-grade kids. These materials can be freely shared with everyone, even the free, downloadable short stories. If you go to the BLOG page on www.markcheverton.com, you’ll see stories written by kids and sent to me. I post everything I receive and send a link back to the young author. So far, I’ve received over 500 stories from kids all over the world.
I love that he has created tutorials to help parents get involved with their child’s work. Cheverton’s website is a terrific source of reading materials for a Minecraft loving kid, and it may even inspire them to write their own story to share with the community there!
Have a suggestion for a great resource for learning with Minecraft? Share in the comments!
