The Butterfly is participating in the rocks and minerals event at Science Olympiad next month. This is her first year competing, so we aren’t sure what to expect, but we do know that the preparation has been fun!
She and her teammate spent an entire afternoon testing every rock and gem they could find in the house (and yard). They learned how to identify rocks according to the scratch test and not just by sight. I even let them test my favorite gem in the house: celestite.

They still have lots of studying to do before the event, but they are having a great time along the way!
