I’m a mom of three little beauties: The Adventurer (age 12), The Butterfly (age 8 ) and The Princess (age 4). I’m a freelance writer and journalist. Until recently, I worked as a parenting columnist and schools reporter at Brookfield.Patch. I’m the parenting editor for Eye On Life Magazine and maintain a blog about my struggle with New Daily Persistent Headache and Lyme Disease.
A native New Yorker, I now call myself a New Englander. It took time to fall in love with the antiques homes, rolling hills, deep woods and long winters here, but the more I explore, with my children in tow, the deeper my love grows.
Not too long ago, my oldest daughter remarked that I “never take her anywhere.” That is, of course, entirely untrue. I intend to prove it by writing about our adventures both near and far, from day trips and museums to hiking and family destinations in New England and (if we’re lucky) beyond.
These “little trips” are becoming more frequent because we recently transitioned into home education. I became a homeschool mom. I focus on building and maintaining meaningful, loving relationships with my children. We learn from life as well as books.
It may sound pretty and perfect, or radical and extreme, but it isn’t any of these all of the time. It’s often a wild ride, filled with sisterly love and war, me hiding out in the bathroom in search of quiet and plenty of friends and family who just don’t understand why we do what we do.
And it’s okay with me.
There are daily moments, however brief and fleeting, that reassure me that we are on the right path.
Welcome to my adorable chaos.

Hi Amy:
I came across you through your Living with NDPH website. Thanks for your information and words of wisdom. Looks as if we live similar lives. I’m a 36 year old mother of 3…2 girls who are 6 and 4 and a little guy who just turned 2. Besides my husband they are the love of my life. I got NDPH last December. It appears to be pretty mellow in comparison to some of the blogs and stories that I have read but I do have my bad days/nights especially when it’s that time of the month. I’d love to know what meds you are currrently taking as well as any supplements. Do you currently see a Neurologist, Dr. Rosen?, that you like? My headache specialist and I don’t see eye to eye. Do you also feel like pain or energy is moving up and down your nerves in your head at times..so hard to explain.? Do you know if there is anyone out there working on trying to find a cure to this? What would it take…funding?
God Bless,
Michelle Berg

Hi Michelle, So sorry for the delayed reply! I do see Dr.Rozen and I find him to be very sympathetic to those of us suffering with NDPH. He told me that he would like to be able to do more research to better understand NDPH, but there is no funding available at this point.
I do feel pain move around in my head at times, I also have leg pain in both the joints and muscles when I get a bad headache, which I think is weird. I haven’t heard of anyone else experiencing it. Currently, I’m not taking any meds.
Hope you are having a low pain day.
Amy
I am extremely impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Either way keep up the excellent quality writing, it’s rare to see a great blog like this one today..
Hey, you hold wonderful writing abilities. I need a good article author for my cause. Am I able to employ you to publish a handful of article content for me? Will compensate you.
